From Town to Countryside

I'm still talking about my first week, but actually one month is already over!

Well, on Sunday 22 there was a nice change to the daily Toronto-Hostel Life.
Remember when I talked about the German guy I met in the Hostel? His name is Bjoern and his uncle knows someone he has once worked with who lives in Toronto - the "contact" how we called him then. And with the daughter of this contact we drove about 3 hours north of Toronto to meet a friend of hers - Craig. Quite confusing, isn't it? Anyway, with him we went Skeet - Shooting. In German you call it Tontaubenschiessen. This was an interesting experience and as in Germany military service is abolished it was my first time to shoot with a gun.

This is Craig.

After that weekend Bjoern and I began our search for a job in Toronto. When applying for a job in Canada, all you need is a resume on that are written some general information about you and your education and skills. Then it's always the same: You go to the place you want to work, say: Hello, I'd like to work here. Then you are being asked: Do you have a resume? You just drop it there and that's it.
Now you just gotta wait for a call. We applied at over 10 different places, but the calls never came, not even after a week or so. Well, not surprising actually because in Summer all the students wanna work themselves, so it's hard to find a job.
But lucky us actually we didn't find a job quickly because Bjoerns enthustiatic Contact came up with something just a couple of days later. He proposed to have lunch with him and a friend who might have a job for us.
So that's what we did and on the same day we were going with this friend - Toni (by the way, both of them Contact and Toni are Austrians who came to Canada when they were very young, started business there and finally stayed) - to his hobby farm in the country about 2 hour northwest of Toronto.
And that's where I began my blog with the very first Post.
And I really gotta say the first impression of the farm when we arrived there with the Jaguar was a little decadent: Big Pool in the House, big garden around it, 5 bedrooms etc.
